History
Historical Milestones for Mount Olive Lutheran Church
February, 1894
Officially organized in 1894 as “Mount Olive English Evangelical Lutheran Congregation of Milwaukee” and was part of the “English Synod” which later became the “English District” of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
October, 1895
Dedication of our first sanctuary occurred in 1895 on North 4th Street, near West Walnut.
April, 1905
Completed construction and dedication of a new sanctuary in the same location in 1905.
March, 1923
The congregation moved to its current location in the Washington Heights Neighborhood after the completion and dedication of the present sanctuary in 1923.
1941
In 1941, Mount Olive left the English District and joined the South Wisconsin District of the LCMS.
1946
Mount Olive began to broadcast their worship services over the radio in 1946. The congregation continued to broadcast their services over the radio for 70 years until the broadcast was eventually replaced by live streaming over the internet.
1950
In 1950 Mount Olive started a school.
April, 1951
Mount Olive completed the construction and dedication of the school building adjacent to the sanctuary and the school was dedicated in 1951.
January, 1959
In January 1959, an addition to the school building (3 additional classrooms) was completed and dedicated.
February, 1976
The gym was added and dedicated in 1976.
September, 1987
In 1987, the current pipe organ was installed and dedicated.
2013
In 2013, the Resource Room was added to support students at Mount Olive Christian Day School.
September, 2014
Mount Olive Christian Day School added the position of a full-time school counselor in 2014.
2021
In 2021, Phase 1 of the playground and the outdoor classroom/garden was completed at the school.
2022
In the spring of 2022, Mount Olive began offering interpreted services for the deaf.
