Mike Schleider

Mike Schleider

Pastor Schleider leads the Word and Sacrament ministry at Mount Olive. He is passionate about passing on the Christian faith to the next generation and has been actively involved in youth ministry or school ministry for over 3 decades. He regularly preaches and teaches in a variety of settings here at Mount Olive including a Bible study for the Deaf. He has also taught a short course at a seminary in Africa (an experience he hopes to repeat someday). Pastor Schleider served as a board member for Lutheran Legacy for 15 years, and has also served as a circuit visitor, a vicarage supervisor, an archery instructor at a Lutheran school, and on district and synodical committees. Before being called into full-time ministry, he served honorably in the US Marines. He was also employed as the Chief of a rural sheriff’s department and was appointed to serve on the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee of the Houston–Galveston Area Council of Governments. Pastor Schleider has been married for almost 40 years, has two married children, and 4 grandchildren. He enjoys fishing, hunting, bicycling, riding his Harley, and spending time with his family outdoors in God’s beautiful creation.

Kantor Stephen Rosebrock leads the music ministry for the church and school at Mount Olive; he directs the choirs, serves as organist, teaches music in the school, and plans the liturgical life of the church and school. He is certified as a Feierabend Association for Music Education music teacher in First Steps in Music and Conversational Solfege. In 2023 he was the recipient of The Neubauer Prize for Urban Teaching. Stephen is a long-time member of the Royal School of Church Music–America, having served on its board of directors and as a staff member for their summer courses. While serving in St. Louis, he was an adjunct faculty member at Concordia Seminary teaching courses in liturgy, directing choirs, and serving as organist. Outside of ministry, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking and baking from scratch, reading, and singing with the Milwaukee Chamber Choir.

Erin Ballard has been an inspiring educator at Mount Olive Christian Day School since 2007. As the eighth-grade homeroom teacher, she passionately leads middle school English Language Arts classes. In addition to her teaching role, Erin currently serves as the interim vice-principal, bringing her leadership skills to the forefront.
Her dedication to excellence in education has earned her notable accolades, including the prestigious Neubauer Prize for Urban Teaching in 2022 and the LCMS South Wisconsin District Elementary Teacher of the Year award in 2023.
Outside of school, Erin enjoys the rewarding role of being a mom, leading a support group for young mothers, indulging in her love for coffee shops, and exploring Milwaukee’s vibrant restaurant scene.

Lisa Ainsworth has been teaching at Mount Olive Christian Day School since 2020. Prior to teaching at Mount Olive, she was a missionary in South East Asia. She appreciated the opportunity to immerse herself in a culture that was so different from her own. In addition to her early childhood licensure, Lisa also holds a Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) license and holds membership in Teaching Trailblazers. Lisa is the faculty leader for America Heritage Girls at Mount Olive. Outside of teaching Mount Olive’s littles, she enjoys exploring God’s beautiful creation and playing strategy board games. Her current favorites are any of the Ticket to Ride games or Camel Up.

Abigail Hansen majored in elementary education and English as a second language in college. Abbi has been teaching at Mount Olive Christian Day School since 2020; prior to teaching at Mount Olive, Abbi taught in New Orleans. She is currently enrolled in a master’s program through Concordia University–Wisconsin with an emphasis on Administration and Director of Instruction. Outside of teaching, she loves spending time with her family and walking her dog. Abbi was born in Rockford, IL, but moved around a lot growing up since her dad was in church ministry. Although Mount Olive’s school colors are green and gold and she now lives in Packer land, she still loves her Chicago Bears. Abbi feels blessed to be a part of the mission field here at Mount Olive.

Kari Bohmann has been a beloved first-grade teacher at Mount Olive since 1990, making her the school’s longest currently-serving teacher. Over the years, she has inspired countless students with her passion for teaching. In recognition of her excellence, she was selected as a state finalist for the prestigious Herb Kohl Teacher Fellowship. Outside of the classroom, Kari enjoys spending quality time with her family. Her hobbies include shopping, cooking, baking, and gardening.

With more than 20 years of teaching experience, Elizabeth Gottschalk has been inspiring young minds at Mount Olive Christian Day School since 2022. In college Elizabeth majored in early childhood education. Her graduate work was in the area of literacy which led to her Reading Specialist Endorsement. Her passion for teaching shines through in her dedication to fostering a love of reading in her students, helping them discover the joy and power of books. Elizabeth received the LCMS South Wisconsin District Elementary Teacher of the Year award in 2025. When she’s not in the classroom, Elizabeth enjoys time with her family, getting lost in a good book, baking delicious treats, and nurturing her garden.

Kenzie Peterson is an alumnus of Mount Olive Christian Day School. After ten years of teaching in Illinois and Wisconsin, she returned to her alma mater in 2024 to teach third grade. She holds both an ELA endorsement and a science endorsement. At Concordia, she also earned a minor in theology. Outside of school, she enjoys time with family and friends, crafting, traveling, and watching or attending sporting events.

Desiree Trochinski majored in elementary education in college, she also had minors in urban education, English as a second language, and Spanish. Desiree has been teaching at Mount Olive Christian Day School since 2016. She completed her student teaching at Mount Olive. In addition to teaching fourth grade, she coaches volleyball and cheerleading to encourage teamwork in athletes. She values sharing the love of Jesus while serving as a leader of the youth group for eighth graders. Desiree enjoys planning and coordinating school events like Fall Fest and Soul Food Dinner which create memorable and meaningful experiences. Outside of school, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, attending Milwaukee Bucks games, visiting the zoo, and traveling to new destinations.

Lindsey Fuchsberger has been part of the Mount Olive Christian Day School family since 2021. She serves as the sixth-grade homeroom teacher, teaches theology and math, and is the advisor for student government and the LEAD program. Lindsey’s passion for education began with her undergraduate studies in elementary education and cross-categorical special education at Concordia University Wisconsin. She’s expanding her expertise through a master’s program in special education at Purdue University.
Outside the classroom, Lindsey treasures time with family and friends and has a knack for finding hidden gems at thrift stores. She’s also deeply connected to her German heritage, dancing with D’Oberlandler Milwaukee, where she helps pass on the traditions she loves to the next generation.
Lindsey’s Wisconsin roots run deep, as does her love for its sports teams. From cheering on the Green Bay Packers (Go Pack Go!) to supporting the Milwaukee Brewers and Bucks, she’s a proud fan of everything Wisconsin!

Keith Brandenburg is an alumnus of Mount Olive Christian Day School and has served as the seventh grade homeroom teacher since 2022. He teaches middle school social studies, physical education, and personal finance. Keith has degrees in history and political science. After working in the professional world, Keith obtained his teaching credentials through Concordia University-Wisconsin. As part of his studies for his Master’s degree, he took classes at the Milwaukee Public Museum. It was there that he obtained his Museum Studies certification through the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Outside of the classroom, he enjoys bicycling, exploring Wisconsin, hiking, local restaurants and coffee shops, and spending time with his dog.

Leah Armstrong has been teaching at Mount Olive since 2014. She is our Resource Room teacher and provides remedial instruction to small groups, assists in homeroom classes, and coordinates testing and IEP needs. In her undergraduate work, she majored in elementary education and cross-categorical special education. She is currently enrolled in the masters program at Concordia University–Wisconsin where her work is focused on student literacy. Leah is in the University of Wisconsin–Waukesha Basketball Hall of Fame. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys her time with family and friends, hiking with her dog, coffee shops, traveling, and being outside.

Danika Hojnacki is a licensed professional counselor and has been serving Mount Olive Christian Day School since 2014. At Mount Olive she provides one-on-one counseling to students, leads small social skills groups, teaches social-emotional learning in every grade, and provides guidance and resources for parents and caregivers. She also works closely with the principals and faculty in making sure students’ needs are met. Mrs. Honacki’s approach to counseling is diverse, including cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical therapy, person-centered therapy, and gestalt therapy. In addition to Danika’s counseling work, she enjoys teaching middle school drama. Outside of school, Danika enjoys time with family and friends, long walks, yoga, reading, shopping, and trying new restaurants. Growing up outside the church, Danika came to faith in Jesus while completing her internship at Mount Olive. This experience gives her a unique perspective in supporting the ministry and our students at Mount Olive.

Vickie Mokros is a seasoned educator having spent her career in Lutheran and public schools. She “came out of retirement” to join Mount Olive’s middle school faculty where she teaches science and STEM classes. Outside of teaching, Vickie serves as a church organist, member of the Milwaukee Fire Bell Club, and enjoys crafting and traveling.

Erica Rosebrock serves the Lutheran High School Association of Greater Milwaukee as an elementary band director and is deployed to Mount Olive Christian Day School. Erica majored in instrumental and choral music education in college and her graduate studies focused on instrumental music education. She teaches private instrumental lessons at Mount Olive and directs the school band. She also assists with the Schola Cantorum. She has spent nearly her whole life in Lutheran education, kindergarten through college, and has taught instrumental music in Lutheran schools in Illinois and Wisconsin. Mrs. Rosebrock enjoys quiet time reading, spending time with family, and singing with the Milwaukee Chamber Choir.
